Crop a photo without changing the original file

Cropping changes which part of an image is kept. On this page the X and Y sliders set the starting point, while Width and Height describe the remaining rectangular area as percentages of the original image.

How to use this tool

  1. Select a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image from your device.
  2. Move Crop X and Crop Y to position the top-left corner of the rectangle.
  3. Reduce Crop Width and Crop Height until only the needed part remains; inspect the preview.
  4. Export the cropped canvas as PNG, then compare it with the original.

Practical tips

  • To remove a blank strip on the left, increase X and reduce Width so the right edge stays in bounds.
  • Cropping changes composition and pixel area; it does not automatically enlarge the remaining subject.
  • Use Resize Image afterward when you need an exact pixel width for a profile picture or listing.

Common questions

Can I select a circle?

This focused crop tool exports a rectangular region, not a circular alpha mask.

Why did my result become smaller?

Cropping removes pixels outside the selected rectangle; use the resizer if a destination requires fixed dimensions.

Limitations: This tool positions the crop with sliders rather than drag handles. The download is a new file; your source file remains available.
