Resize image dimensions while controlling proportions

Image dimensions are measured in pixels. The size controls begin with your imported image dimensions, and Aspect Ratio Locked keeps width and height changing together so the picture does not stretch.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose the source image and note its initial width and height.
  2. Leave Aspect Ratio Locked on for ordinary photographs.
  3. Enter the destination width or height; the companion dimension will update to match.
  4. Review the preview dimensions and export the resized PNG.

Practical tips

  • If a photo is 1200 by 800 pixels, reducing its width to 600 with the ratio locked produces 600 by 400.
  • Unlock the ratio only if stretching is intentional; otherwise crop to the shape you need.
  • Enlarging a small source can make edges look soft because it cannot reconstruct missing detail.

Common questions

Does resizing automatically reduce file size?

Not necessarily. Pixel count and export format both affect bytes; try image compression if size is the main concern.

How do I avoid distortion?

Keep Aspect Ratio Locked enabled when editing photographic content.

Limitations: The tool exports a raster image; changing pixel dimensions does not add sharpness to a low-resolution original.
